The Nomads

Traditionally Nomads in Morocco do not receive an education. 90% of Berber nomadic women are illiterate.  The Berber language is very different than Arabic.   The nomadic people are Berber and are considered Amazigh which means free people.  They are natives of Morocco and they are the first people to live between land and sea.  They are fishers and hunters.  They are very proud of their heritage and happy to remain Nomads.  The men often leave their families up to 11 months leaving the women to provide and care for the children and heard.  This leaves a huge burden for the women and they look for ways to supplement their income.  We are very proud to present their handmade items that they make strictly from items that blow across the Sahara Desert.
